Who Went Shopping in Milan?

Travel and shopping! Who would love to do that when given the chance? These two words always go together especially if you love to travel and love to shop and buy travel souvenirs. I believed, I am blessed to visit and experience many places and countries and did some  shopping there as well when travelling.

Why I landed in Milan? Sometime in January of this year, the postmaster dropped  a travel flyer in our mailbox. When I took and browsed it, I found a cheap trip to Milan, Italy in March 2013. I did not mind it for the first 3 weeks because I already booked a one week trip for Ireland that month. Besides, I was trying to consider my budget due to the many trips I booked during that time.

Finally, I made my mind and decided to book it. I was so lucky because there were 2 seats left for that 5-day trip to Italy, Lichtenstein and Switzerland. I did not buy anymore a comprehensive travel insurance for that trip because as a frequent traveller, I already have one.

To make the story short, I was able to visit Milan for a day. I was amazed when I went inside the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. This ancient and glamorous arcaded shopping gallery will be a perfect place for ladies who love to shop for branded and signature items. It has a a stunning mosaic floor, and wonderful glass roof and cupola. You can find Louis Vuitton, Prada, a silverware store called Bernasconi, eating places such as the Zucca in Galleria, Biffi or a Gucci cafe and other fashion boutiques, bookstores and restaurants inside.

The highlight of my visit in Milan was not really shopping, but meeting a former schoolmate whom I did not see for over two decades. She treated me in one of the restaurants in Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. She told me if I plan to go for cheap shopping for branded items in Milan, I should go there sometime in January,  when the big sales for many boutiques are going on. That was quite a good tip from her!

I also went shopping in Milan but my main purpose is to see the famous sights there including the Doumo (Milan Cathedral), the famous La Scala Opera, House, the Castello Sforzesco, Cimitero Monumentale, etc. I did some shopping and was already happy to buy some postcards, fridge magnet, travel guide book, shotglasses, display plate and a bag.

I only did a window shopping in Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. Hopefully in my next visit in Milan, I can already buy the signature bag  I wanted.

So far Milan is one of the places I love in Italy. For ladies who want to go shopping, Milan is a perfect place for you being the major world fashion and design capital.
